The practice takes a few forms, but the spirit is constant. Everything is built for people of any experience level. The only requirement is a willingness to be curious about your own life.
The heart of it
Writing Circles
Our heart. A consistent small group that meets regularly to write and reflect together. Over weeks and months, a circle becomes something more than a class. It becomes a community of people who know one another’s voices and look forward to the gathering. Ideal as an ongoing program within a community, or as an open circle individuals can join.
A focused gathering
Workshops & Series
A single themed gathering or a multi-session series exploring a particular terrain: memory, place, work, the people who shaped us, the questions still open. Well suited to libraries, lifelong learning programs, and communities that want a defined offering with a beginning and an end.
Private & personal
Individual Sessions
One-to-one work for those who prefer a private pace, or who want to explore a particular chapter of their lives with a dedicated guide. Reflective and unhurried, shaped entirely around the individual.
In time
Facilitator Training
As the practice grows, we will train others to lead circles in their own communities, extending the work far beyond what one person can reach. If this is something you feel called to, we’d love to know.
How a session moves
Structured enough to feel safe. Open enough to surprise.
Each gathering opens with a considered prompt: a memory, a place, an object, a question chosen to open a door rather than demand an answer. We write by hand, side by side, for a stretch. The companionable quiet does real work, lowering the stakes and giving permission to follow a thought wherever it leads. Those who wish to read aloud do, and we respond with genuine attention. Where it’s welcome, gentle observations on craft help participants grow as writers, not only as rememberers. Nothing is ever required. The door is always open and never pushed.
